‘The Liberation’ explores a Holocaust survivor’s search for a way forward

The Liberation is based on events from director Guy Nattiv’s grandmother’s life.

It follows Rita, a Holocaust survivor who leaves her family and joins a women’s commune.

Her daughters try to bring her back.

Nattiv and actor Carrie Coon said they approached her choices with empathy, asking what someone may need to move on from trauma.
