Bezos says AI could make three-day workweeks possible
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos says artificial intelligence could make the economy more productive and allow some people to work fewer hours.
In an interview with Fox News, he said some people might be able to support their families by working three days a week.
He also predicted that more households could choose to have one income earner, which he said could make it harder for companies to hire workers.
These are Bezos’s predictions, not changes he said have already happened.
He said AI is real and could benefit society, but investors may struggle to tell which AI businesses will succeed.
Amazon plans to spend more than $200 billion on capital projects this year, mainly data centers, while it has cut about 30,000 corporate roles since late last year.
The contrast highlights how AI could bring productivity gains while companies and workers face uncertainty.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
Some people will decide, ‘I can support my family working three days a week.’ That’s what productivity in the economy means,
It’s going to be difficult to hire people, because the productivity in the economy will make it so that [if] people don’t want to work two jobs, they won’t have to.
What I do know is the technology is real. I think this is a good thing for society,
It’s tricky for investors. Every experiment gets funded—the good ideas and the bad ideas. In the moment, in the tussle of this, it’s hard for investors to know the difference between the good ideas and the bad ideas.
