Mexico reports no citizens affected after 7.7 earthquake in Panama

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck southern Panama and was also felt in parts of Costa Rica.

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry says it has no reports of Mexican citizens affected in either country.

The ministry is monitoring the situation through its embassies and has offered consular help.

Mexicans in Panama can call 6705-6215 for assistance, while those in Costa Rica can call +506 8708-2850.

Mexican officials urged people to follow local authorities’ instructions and check official updates.

Tsunami alerts or warnings were issued for parts of the Pacific after the earthquake.

The ministry says its embassies remain attentive as the situation develops.
