Three men convicted over 2024 murders of surfers in Mexico
Three men have been found guilty of killing Australian brothers Jake and Callum Robinson and their American friend Carter Rhoad.
The killings happened in April 2024 during a surfing and camping trip near Ensenada, in Mexico’s Baja California state.
The group was reported missing, and their bodies were found in a well with gunshot wounds to their heads.
Prosecutors said the men tried to rob the travelers and take their vehicle.
The court found Jesus Gerardo Garcia, known as “El Kekas,” and two co-defendants guilty of murder, robbery and vehicle theft.
A woman who was Garcia’s girlfriend was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2025 for her role in the robbery.
The judge is due to announce the three men’s sentences on October 16; prosecutors have requested 210 years in prison for each, though reports differ on the maximum possible term.
