‘El Junior’ arrested in Acapulco in case linked to ‘Los Rusos’

Authorities arrested Eliceo “N,” known as “El Junior,” in Acapulco, in Mexico’s Guerrero state.

Federal Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch said he is a leader of a criminal cell linked to the group known as “Los Rusos.”

Authorities say the cell attacked federal security officers in October 2025, while they were conducting operations against extortion networks.

This is the seventh arrest linked to that cell; a suspected gunman also died during the operations, according to García Harfuch.

Officials say “El Junior” is linked to extortion of traders at Acapulco’s Central Market, killings and attacks on transport workers.

Authorities seized two guns, ammunition, 300 doses of drugs and a van during the arrest.

García Harfuch said the attacks on officers would not go unpunished and thanked Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado for supporting security coordination.
