Makinde pledges four-year unity government if elected president in 2027

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, has promised to form a Government of National Unity if elected Nigeria’s president in 2027.

He says the transitional government would last no more than four years and include people from across the country.

Makinde made the pledge at a party town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State.

He said the plan was meant to address concerns that political power is concentrated in one part of Nigeria and to improve representation.

He also promised to consult the public on security and economic problems, and said his party’s manifesto was still being prepared after listening to citizens.

Makinde called on the federal government to publish the formula it uses to set petrol prices.

His proposals are campaign promises; the sources give no further details about how the unity government would be formed.
