Brazil’s INSS offers up to six months of pay to domestic violence survivors
Women covered by Brazil’s social security system can apply for pay if a criminal court orders them to stop working because of domestic violence.
The court order must specifically require them to leave work.
They do not need a medical examination, but must show they were insured when the leave began.
The employer pays the first 15 days for employees, and the INSS pays the rest; for other eligible workers, the INSS pays the full amount.
The support is meant to help women seek protection without losing their income.
