Israel says strikes killed 17 Palestinian armed-group members in Gaza in a week
The Israeli military says it killed 17 members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in strikes across the Gaza Strip over the past week.
It had announced 12 deaths earlier in the week and added at least five more on Saturday.
The military said some of those killed were commanders or members involved in the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, and that others were planning attacks or rebuilding the groups’ military capabilities.
It said one strike hit a Hamas meeting in Gaza City and another killed a Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander in the city’s Tuffah neighborhood.
Palestinian media reported that the strike near Gaza City’s Panda Mall killed four people and wounded six.
The figures and descriptions of those killed come from the Israeli military, while Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says more than 74,200 people have been killed in the war, without separating civilians from combatants.
