Russia condemns deadly attack on Riyadh airport and urges protection of civilians

A missile attack struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on October 10.

It killed 12 people and injured more than 300, including civilians of several nationalities.

Saudi Arabia’s allies and other countries condemned the attack, which Saudi Gazette and Vedomosti attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement.

Russia called on parties to conflicts on the Arabian Peninsula to stop targeting civilian facilities and said crises should be settled through diplomacy.

Kuwait said the airport’s operations were temporarily suspended after the attack.

The Houthi movement warned airlines not to use Saudi airports or airspace on October 11.

Governments called for civilian protection and regional stability, but the reports give no details of further steps to address the attack.
