Outriders sent up to three players from a safe hub into dangerous areas to fight enemies and collect loot.

Players then returned to improve their characters and prepare for another mission.

Its team-based classes and repeatable loot loop resemble features in newer extraction shooters.

But Outriders had no player-versus-player combat, and losing carried less risk.
