U.S. faces 1.7 million skilled-trade job openings a year through 2035
The U.S. is expected to have 1.7 million skilled-trade job openings each year through 2035.
Many current workers are nearing retirement, and too few young people are entering these jobs.
Demand is also rising for workers to build data centers, defense projects and affordable housing.
If employers cannot fill the roles, important projects and repairs may take longer.
