Job seekers and recruiters struggle to understand each other
A Hellowork survey of 2,500 job seekers and more than 700 recruiters in France found growing tension between the two groups.
Eighty-eight percent of job seekers said finding work is harder than it was two years ago, blaming demanding recruiters and fewer job openings.
Nearly nine in 10 recruiters said candidates’ expectations, especially about pay and flexibility, have become harder to meet.
Recruiters said they receive more applications, but consider only one in four relevant.
The survey also found that job listings often leave out details about required skills, qualifications, schedules, remote work and hiring steps.
Use of AI adds to suspicion: 93% of recruiters and 61% of candidates said they use it, while each side worries about the other’s use.
The Hellowork director general said clearer job listings and disclosure of how AI is used could help rebuild trust; he also said AI cannot legally reject a candidate on its own without human involvement.
