Citroën unveils electric 2CV concept ahead of planned production

Citroën has revealed a concept for an electric version of its 2CV, known in France as the Ente.

The car is being shown at the Paris Motor Show, which runs from October 12 to 18.

The original 2CV first appeared in 1948 and became one of France’s best-known cars before production ended more than 35 years ago.

The new concept is slightly shorter than the original and brings back features such as a folding roof and a gear lever on the dashboard.

Citroën says it aims to make the small car affordable, with a projected price of about €15,000.

The company has suggested a range of around 200 to 300 kilometres, but has not detailed the powertrain, and the car remains a concept.

Citroën wants to begin production within two years, with the model designed for a small-car category that the EU has yet to approve.
