Jeremy Strong replaces Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning
The Social Reckoning, released on October 7, is a sequel to The Social Network.
Jeremy Strong plays Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, taking over from Jesse Eisenberg, who played him in the 2010 film.
Director and writer Aaron Sorkin said he first offered Eisenberg the part, but Eisenberg said he no longer wanted to be associated with Zuckerberg.
Eisenberg later said his decision reflected different directions in his life, not doubts about the film.
The sequel draws on the Facebook Files, which examined the platform’s role in online hate and the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
Sorkin said Strong suited his portrayal of Zuckerberg as a colder figure leading a company with a major impact on the world.
The story does not say whether a third film is planned.
