Iran-related security concerns delay planned Armenia-Azerbaijan route

TRIPP is a planned route through Armenia that would connect Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave.

It is also meant to link the two countries to a trade route between Central Asia and Europe.

Construction in Armenia has not started, and Azerbaijan’s president has said it may begin in early 2027.

Iran opposes the route, which would run close to its northern border, and regional tensions have raised security concerns.
