Zhejiang University marks 140 years since journalist Shao Piaoping’s birth
A ceremony at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou on October 10 commemorated journalist Shao Piaoping.
The event marked 140 years since his birth and 100 years since his death.
Born in what is now Dongyang, Zhejiang, Shao entered Zhejiang Higher School in 1906 and later worked in journalism and journalism education.
His work and ideas are remembered as part of the history of Chinese journalism.
Organizers unveiled a Shao Piaoping memorial hall and named Jinhua Foreign Languages School an education base for carrying on his legacy.
Officials said Jinhua will continue activities that promote his ideas, while speakers urged journalists to uphold responsibility and serve the public through their work.
