MatPat and Blumhouse are developing an Amanda the Adventurer movie
Matthew “MatPat” Patrick and horror studio Blumhouse are working together on films based on indie horror games.
Their first project is a movie adaptation of Amanda the Adventurer, a puzzle horror game from DreadXP.
In the game, a character discovers a mysterious tape and investigates a sinister children’s TV show.
Patrick, a former host of YouTube’s Theory channels, announced the partnership with Blumhouse founder Jason Blum at New York Comic Con.
The two sides are talking with potential writers and directors, but no cast or release date has been announced.
The deal covers multiple projects, though Amanda the Adventurer is the only one identified so far.
The partnership brings a popular online horror game to film, building on Blumhouse’s work adapting Five Nights at Freddy’s.
