Turkish judicial council opens investigation into judge over video call allegation

Turkey’s judicial council ordered an investigation into an Ankara judge after a 22-year-old woman accused him of exposing himself during a video call.

The woman said she met the judge through an online platform for legal professionals and later reported him to the council.

The alleged call took place while he was at court during work hours, according to the account of her complaint.

The judge was said to have presented himself online as a 32-year-old single man, though he was reportedly 43 and married.

The council assigned an inspector to investigate the judge after a preliminary review.

The two continued communicating after her complaint, and later made allegations against each other, including threats and stalking.

The woman was jailed on an extortion charge after prosecutors also pursued allegations of violating privacy and persistent stalking.

The investigation into the judge is proceeding separately, and no outcome is stated.
