Mattarella urges Italy to preserve unity amid political divisions

Italian President Sergio Mattarella spoke at a ceremony marking 80 years of Cida, a confederation of managers and other senior professionals.

The anniversary coincides with 80 years since the founding of the Italian Republic.

Mattarella said sharp disagreements should not erode the unity that helped Italy defeat terrorism, including attacks by the Red Brigades on managers.

He credited managers in public and private roles with helping shape the country and carry out its post-pandemic recovery plan.

He also urged institutions to support the European social model and said Italy should keep pace with rapid change.

He warned that digital technology, artificial intelligence and robotics should benefit people and social cohesion, not only profits and efficiency.

He called on managers to contribute to these challenges through their daily work.
