Francesc-Marc Álvaro to lead ERC’s Senate list in Barcelona
Francesc-Marc Álvaro, currently a deputy in Spain’s Congress, is set to run for the Senate in the 29 November general election.
Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) has proposed him as its lead candidate in Barcelona.
ERC has renewed its Senate coalition with EH Bildu, and Álvaro could share a group with the party if elected.
Senate seats are elected directly, unlike seats in Congress.
Álvaro has served as a spokesperson on several Congress committees, including those covering foreign affairs and culture.
ERC’s executive is due to ratify the proposal, and the party’s national council is due to approve the lists on 20 October.
Álvaro said he considered it an honour to seek to represent ERC in the Senate.
