Banque du Caire to offer 30% stake in Egypt IPO

Banque du Caire, a state-owned bank in Egypt, plans to sell 30% of its shares on the Egyptian stock exchange.

The offer will consist of 4.575 billion shares owned by Banque Misr, another state lender.

The sale is expected to be the country’s second major IPO in a month and its first major state-backed IPO since the sale of 30% of United Bank in late 2024.

Egypt has been trying for years to sell or list Banque du Caire, but plans dating back to about 2016 were repeatedly delayed.

The offer is aimed at qualified investors in Egypt and abroad, as well as institutional buyers.

The share price and valuation have not been disclosed.

Subscription is expected to close in late October, with trading planned for November, subject to regulatory approvals.
