Early tests point to a strong Corsican clementine harvest

Corsican clementine growers have begun harvesting and expect a good season.

September was unusually hot, and drought and water restrictions caused concern in some areas.

Rain later helped ease the pressure on orchards, including in the southern eastern plain.

Early tests show favorable sugar, juice and acidity levels, slightly higher than last year.

The fruit size is still uncertain, and growers expect to know more in the coming days.

Some fruit is exceptionally small in a few orchards or parts of orchards, but this is not widespread.

Growers also say they have no difficulty finding seasonal workers to pick the fruit.
