French state to become Eramet’s largest shareholder in €500m capital raise

Eramet, a French mining group facing financial difficulties since 2025, plans to raise €500 million by the end of 2026.

The French state, which already owns about 27% of the company, will put money into the raise and may buy some or all of the Duval family’s subscription rights.

The Duval family currently holds a 37.22% stake.

After the deal, the state is expected to become Eramet’s largest shareholder, ahead of the Duvals.

The state’s final stake will not exceed 49%, so the company will not be nationalised.

The operation is expected to take place between late October and the end of the year.
