Tropical Depression Twenty-One-E forms off southern Mexico

Tropical Depression Twenty-One-E formed in the Pacific south of Mexico on Tuesday, October 13.

At 9 a.m., it was 650 kilometers south of Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca, and 870 kilometers south-southeast of Acapulco, Guerrero.

It was moving northwest at 17 kilometers per hour, with wind gusts of 75 kilometers per hour.

Mexico’s National Meteorological Service said the system did not then pose a danger to Mexico, though it could increase the chance of rain in the south and southeast.

Forecasters expected it to become Tropical Storm Trudy on Tuesday evening.

They then forecast it could become Hurricane Trudy on October 14 and reach Category 4 in the following days.
