Driving lessons could become up to €1,000 cheaper under proposed reform

A driving licence in Germany currently costs an average of €3,400.

The transport minister says proposed changes could save learners several hundred euros, and up to €1,000 in the best case.

Driving instructors warn that some changes could weaken safety.

Parliament and the Bundesrat still need to approve the reform, which is planned to start in early 2027.
