Plus Ultra cuts Madrid–Buenos Aires flights, leaving passengers stranded
Plus Ultra has cut flights between Madrid, Spain, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, from five a week to two.
The reduced schedule is set to run from October 19 to December 13.
The airline says airport runway work at Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza airport makes it difficult to operate some flights between October 25 and November 11, but the schedule change covers a longer period.
Other airlines have described alternative arrangements, while Italy’s ITA canceled flights during the runway work and is refunding tickets.
Passengers say Plus Ultra canceled their flights and have struggled to get rebooked or refunded.
One passenger said he paid 859 euros for a ticket and could not find another flight or obtain his money back.
The disruption has also caused some travelers to lose connecting flights and hotel costs, while Plus Ultra continues selling tickets to Buenos Aires.
Plus Ultra reduced its Madrid–Buenos Aires flights from five weekly services to two, leaving passengers stranded in Spain and Argentina.
The reduction applies from 19 October to 13 December 2026.
The airline cited limits on operating at Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza airport while its main runway is being refurbished.
Passengers said they had difficulty getting rebooked or refunded, and criticized the airline for continuing to sell tickets.

When I finally managed to get through, they told me they could only make flight changes, but there was nothing available for my date. And they probably weren’t going to have anything.
It’s true that the ticket price was suspiciously cheap. That’s where the possible premeditated scam is.
This is a disaster. I also missed the connection between Turin and Madrid, and the hotels in Madrid. Almost two thousand euros down the drain.

Refurbishment of Ezeiza’s main runway was expected to prevent large aircraft from landing.
