Tongliang plans to expand connected electric motorcycle industry

Tongliang, a district in Chongqing, plans to build a major hub for connected electric motorcycles during China’s 2026–2030 planning period.

In 2025, it produced more than 1.5 million electric motorcycles, accounting for one in every two made in Chongqing.

More than 20 businesses in the supply chain have gathered there around a leading manufacturer, Chongqing Aima Vehicle Technology.

The district wants to move beyond traditional electric motorcycles by adding features such as satellite positioning, smart sensing and communication between riders and vehicles.

It also plans to attract suppliers of key parts, including motors, batteries and electronic controls, and encourage manufacturers and suppliers to develop products together.

The goal is to make the industry more competitive and the supply chain more reliable, while expanding from manufacturing into services such as vehicle management and after-sales support.

Tongliang says it will advance construction of Aima’s southwest headquarters and manufacturing base and support development of higher-performance connected motorcycles.
