Damon Hill’s new documentary explores his grief after his father’s death

Damon Hill is an English former Formula 1 driver who won the 1996 world championship and 22 Grands Prix.

His new documentary, Hill, explores his career and the grief he carried after his father, Graham, died in a plane crash when Damon was 15.

Graham was a two-time F1 world champion.

Damon has said he learned of the crash from television and later felt he had not dealt with the loss at the time.

After his father’s death, Hill moved from his interest in motorbikes towards a career in F1.

He joined Williams as a test driver in 1991 and became a full-time race driver in 1993.

Revisiting painful memories for the film was raw, Hill says, but also necessary.

The documentary premieres at the British Film Festival on October 28.
