Trenching identifies copper-gold system at Bougainville exploration project

Trenching identifies copper-gold system at Bougainville exploration project

Island Passage Exploration and its landowner partner, Isina Resource Holdings, reported results from the first trenching campaign at the EL02 project on Bougainville Island in Papua New Guinea.

The work focused on the Bara-Tangka target, about 13 km southeast of the historic Panguna Mine.

The companies say the trenching confirmed a porphyry copper-gold mineral system.

They excavated and sampled about 1,600 metres of trenches across several prospects.

The results announced cover about 1,325 metres of trenching, along with some channel samples.

The trenches were placed mainly where earlier work had identified copper, gold and molybdenum anomalies.

The finding identifies a mineral system, but the available information does not give further results or say what exploration will happen next.
