Brazil court report finds violent threats against justices on X
An internal report by Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court found posts on X threatening to shoot, blow up, hang or dismember court justices.
The court’s Judicial Police Secretariat said X had the largest volume and share of hostile posts against the court and its members.
Justice Flávio Dino shared part of the report on Instagram on October 9, including threats directed at him and other justices.
Some messages were posted after the first round of elections on October 4, and one linked a threat against Dino to his actions during the election period.
Dino said threats would not change how he does his job and urged people who disagree with court decisions to use legal appeals rather than encourage violence.
He warned that fear of personal attacks could undermine the judiciary and the Constitution.
The court has not released the full report, citing security reasons; no further action is specified.

If a judge becomes afraid to decide a case because of the supposed risk of personal persecution, there is no longer a Judiciary. Nor a Constitution.
The hatred expressed in the messages stems from the repeated spread of lies with the aim of inciting violence.
