States pass 33 healthcare AI laws across 21 states

States are making their own rules for using AI in healthcare.

In 2025, lawmakers in 47 states introduced more than 250 bills, and 33 became law in 21 states.

The rules cover issues such as telling patients when AI is used, AI therapy and AI decisions about insurance approvals.

These laws can shape how healthcare providers use AI and what protections patients receive.
