Fury-Joshua fight to decide WBA heavyweight champion

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to fight on December 11 at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

The WBA’s primary heavyweight championship will be on the line, promoter Frank Warren confirmed.

Both British fighters have previously held world titles, but lost them to Oleksandr Usyk.

The WBA also has a regular champion, Murat Gassiev, who was expected to become its primary champion after Usyk vacated the belt.

The Fury-Joshua winner will therefore have a version of the title, while other heavyweight titles remain to be unified.

Warren says he hopes the winner can fight the winner of Daniel Dubois’s rematch with Fabio Wardley, which is for the WBO title.

Warren is aiming for heavyweight unification fights in 2027, and Dubois says he is willing to face either Fury or Joshua.

Whoever wins that, they've got a version of the belt and the objective, after Usyk vacated all the belts, is to find out who's the best, who's going to hold all the belts, who's going to be the No 1 heavyweight.

I'll gladly take on the winner of that. I will stake my claim and take on the world, the belts and everything else that comes along with it.
