Dubois to defend WBO heavyweight title against Wardley in London rematch

Daniel Dubois will defend his WBO heavyweight title against Fabio Wardley at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, 17 October.

The fight is a rematch of their meeting in Manchester five months earlier.

Dubois got up from the canvas twice before stopping Wardley in the 11th round.

Wardley, who had not lost a professional fight before, quickly used his rematch clause to secure this bout.

The title will be contested over 12 three-minute rounds, and it is the first defence of Dubois’ second reign as world champion.

Dubois has more experience against top-level opponents, while both fighters have records marked by frequent knockouts.

The event’s official timing is not confirmed, but the fighters are expected to walk to the ring after 22:30 BST.
