Jon Jones says Gable Steveson needs more sparring after UFC knockout loss

Jon Jones says Gable Steveson needs more sparring after UFC knockout loss

Gable Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist and UFC heavyweight prospect, was knocked out by Sean Sharaf in 12 seconds last month.

The defeat came after Steveson won his UFC debut in July.

Jon Jones was in Steveson’s corner and has been closely involved in his early MMA career.

Jones says Steveson is back in training and in a good frame of mind.

He believes the team needs to add much more sparring and work on other areas together.

Jones pointed to Georges St-Pierre’s loss to Matt Serra as an example of a top fighter recovering from a major setback.

The team says it believes Steveson can bounce back, but no next fight is mentioned.
