Devon Sawa says he learned to embrace his role in Casper

Actor Devon Sawa spent years resenting questions about Casper, the 1995 fantasy film that brought him widespread recognition.

He appeared briefly as the friendly ghost’s human form in the film’s closing scene with Christina Ricci.

Sawa said the film’s signature line, “Can I keep you?”, followed him even as he took on other roles.

He now says Casper helped launch his career and that he has learned to embrace its lasting place in his work.

After the film, Sawa acted in projects including Final Destination, Hacks and the horror series Chucky.

He is now starring in Coven Academy, a Disney supernatural teen drama set at a magical boarding school in New Orleans.

The series follows teenage witches and warlocks as they face rivalries, romances and a threat to their city.
