Vidyut Jammwal makes Hollywood debut as Dhalsim in Street Fighter

Indian action actor Vidyut Jammwal makes his Hollywood debut in Street Fighter, a film based on the video game series.

He plays Dhalsim, the yoga master who can stretch his body and conjure fire.

The game began in 1987 and follows martial artists, including Ryu and Ken, competing in a world warrior tournament.

Jammwal says the filmmakers wanted an action star from India, and he was cast after an audition with director Kitao Sakurai.

Though he had not played the game before, he studied its characters, fighting styles and powers to make Dhalsim believable on screen.

The role drew on his experience performing his own stunts in action films, which he says requires taking things step by step and prioritising safety.

The film marks Jammwal's entry into Hollywood; the account gives no release date or details about what happens next.
