Madrid PP posts old video of journalist after she mocks Ayuso
The Madrid branch of Spain’s People’s Party posted an old video of journalist Sarah Santaolalla after she commented on a clip of regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso stumbling slightly at an October 12 parade.
Santaolalla’s post said, “Yesterday there was a party in the penthouse,” referring to a home linked to Ayuso that opposition parties say was bought for her to live in.
The party replied with footage of Santaolalla dancing and drinking with a friend at an outdoor gathering in Salamanca.
Santaolalla says she does not know where the video came from and believes it is nine or ten years old.
She says she may have been 17 or 18 when it was recorded, and is checking whether she was underage so she can consider legal action.
The episode has raised concerns about a political party targeting a journalist’s private life through its official social media account.
The PP also criticised unionist and TV commentator Afra Blanco after she questioned a campaign speech by party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
