Judge asks Spain’s National Court to investigate former judge over threats
Judge Beatriz Biedma asked Spain’s National Court to question former judge Luis José Sáenz de Tejada as a suspect in an investigation into alleged threats against her.
Biedma had investigated a case involving David Sánchez, the brother of Spain’s prime minister.
She says Sáenz de Tejada acted against her after Leire Díez recruited him, as part of an alleged group linked to the Socialist Party.
Biedma says the alleged threats included proposals for physical violence, including a statement that she should be eliminated.
She also asked the court to hear from Cintia Rocho, who is said to belong to a drug-trafficking clan the group allegedly approached to intimidate her, and businessman Joaquín Parra.
The court is being asked to examine whether the group coordinated fake profiles, surveillance or threats against Biedma.
She also wants complaints and other documents filed against her by Sáenz de Tejada added to the case.
The requests aim to clarify whether there was a coordinated effort to influence the case and neutralize its judge; the court’s response is not stated.
