Sony names YouTube executive Fede Goldenberg to lead Screen Gems
Sony Pictures has named Fede Goldenberg, a longtime YouTube executive, to lead Screen Gems, its film label known for genre movies.
He will report to Sanford Panitch, head of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group.
Ashley Brucks, who has led Screen Gems since 2023, will move into a producing role on upcoming projects.
The label plans to keep making traditional genre films while adding theatrical projects from filmmakers who built audiences online.
Goldenberg spent 15 years at YouTube working with creators and film and television companies.
The shift comes as movies made by digital creators, including Obsession and Backrooms, have drawn attention at the box office.
Sony says Goldenberg will use his creator relationships to help find filmmakers and develop stories for cinemas.
