Brokers see potential gains for NexGen Energy and Viva Energy shares

Two brokers have suggested that shares in NexGen Energy and Viva Energy could rise over the next year.

NexGen is developing the Rook 1 uranium project in Saskatchewan, Canada, where the Arrow deposit has a reported resource of 257 million pounds of uranium.

Barrenjoey expects first production in 2029–30 and has set a $14.80 price target, compared with a current price of $12.24.

Viva Energy operates in refining and fuel retail, and Macquarie has set a $4 target against a current price of $3.16.

Macquarie says refining margins may remain supportive through 2027, although softer retail fuel margins could weigh on Viva in the second half of 2026.

It also forecasts an 8.1% dividend yield for this year and 4.7% next year.

The forecasts reflect the brokers’ views, not guaranteed returns, and NexGen’s project still requires further development before production begins.
