About 1,942 CBA shares could generate $10,000 in annual dividends

Commonwealth Bank of Australia, or CBA, is a major Australian bank listed on the ASX.

It has a history of paying fully franked dividends twice a year, but its dividend income is not guaranteed.

At a share price of A$149.29 and a forecast dividend of A$5.15 per share for FY 2027, an investor would need about 1,942 shares to receive around A$10,000 a year before franking credits.

Buying that many shares at that price would cost about A$289,921.

Forecasts suggest the dividend could rise to A$5.30 per share in FY 2028, which would bring income from 1,942 shares to about A$10,293.

Those figures are estimates, and actual dividends will depend on CBA’s performance and economic conditions.

A weaker economy, more bad debts or pressure on lending margins could reduce earnings and dividends.
