Gansu courts expand legal services for cross-border trade and transport
Courts in Gansu, a province in northwest China, are strengthening support for businesses involved in international trade and transport.
This year, they have concluded 24 cases involving cross-border investment, trade and freight linked to the Belt and Road Initiative.
The cases include disputes over contracts, plant varieties and international rail transport.
Lanzhou is a transport hub, and freight trains from its international land port connect with more than 20 countries and regions.
Over the past five years, railway courts in Lanzhou have handled 6,074 railway-related cases and helped businesses recover nearly 435 million yuan.
They have also set up services near logistics and customs operations so disputes can be resolved locally, often through mediation.
Gansu courts say they will continue working with trade and customs bodies to support international business and the province’s links with markets to the west.
