Rochas Okorocha denies report of an arrest warrant against him
Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of Nigeria’s Imo State and a former senator for Imo West, denies that a court issued an arrest warrant against him.
An online report claimed that a court in Abuja issued a warrant in September against him, former senator Ifeanyi Araraume and two others.
It linked the alleged order to claims that Okorocha and Araraume forged results from the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary in Imo West.
Okorocha says no such court order exists and says neither Nigeria’s electoral commission nor the state’s electoral commissioner petitioned for an investigation of him.
He says the petition mentioned in the disputed report was dated 8 October, after the report said the warrant was issued, on 9 September.
He has asked those who circulated the claim to publish the warrant within 48 hours, and says media outlets should retract the story and apologise if they cannot produce it.
