Nick Blakey traded from Sydney Swans to North Melbourne
Sydney Swans defender Nick Blakey has been traded to North Melbourne during the AFL trade period.
The clubs agreed to the move despite Blakey having five years left on his Sydney contract.
North Melbourne will send Sydney several draft picks, including its first- and second-round picks in 2028, and will receive Blakey, pick 52 and Sydney’s 2028 second-round selection.
North has reportedly offered Blakey an eight-year deal worth more than $11 million.
The move follows Blakey’s season-ending suspension over the Pullman Hotel incident in Melbourne, which also led to suspensions for four other Sydney players.
Victoria Police is investigating sexual assault allegations linked to the same night; a report on October 8 said no charges had been laid at that time.

What people are saying
It's certainly not something we've actively pursued and we feel confident that he could walk back into our footy club
But given the calibre of player that he is, and the fact that he is contracted for five more years, we feel like making any deal happen would be significantly challenging.
