Survey: 13% of Brazil’s nonvoters cited lack of interest

A record 21.08% of voters did not vote in Brazil’s first-round election.

In a survey, 13% of those who stayed away cited disinterest or a lack of a candidate they wanted to vote for.

Travel and health problems were more commonly mentioned.

The survey allowed people to name more than one reason, and turnout could matter in the close presidential runoff.
