Kyrie Irving scores 17 in first game back after ACL injury
Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving played his first game in more than 19 months on Sunday.
He had missed all of last season while recovering from a torn ligament in his left knee.
Irving scored 17 points in 22 minutes as Dallas beat the Houston Rockets 132-115.
He said it felt good to return and to play at a high level.
He is also looking forward to playing with Cooper Flagg, the reigning Rookie of the Year and the first pick in last year’s draft.
Coach Dusty May said Irving and Flagg can create better opportunities for their teammates.
Rookie Sergio de Larrea has also impressed May, averaging 10 points and five assists in two preseason games.
