Portugal PM says US use of Azores base during Iran conflict was legal

Portugal allowed US military flights to use Lajes Air Base in the Azores during the Iran conflict.

Prime Minister Luis Montenegro says the decision was legal and based on assurances that operations would be defensive and limited to military targets.

Prosecutors are investigating after an opposition party filed a complaint.

The inquiry could test whether the authorisation followed the law.
