Pablo Marçal promotes Flávio Bolsonaro’s campaign as a possible government role remains open

Pablo Marçal, a Brazilian influencer with 14 million Instagram followers, is promoting Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s presidential campaign.

His posts include anti-Workers’ Party messages, calls to vote for Bolsonaro and a video made with artificial intelligence that depicts President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva being arrested by US authorities.

Marçal backed Bolsonaro publicly in late September and said he was joining the campaign team, but later said he is not officially part of it and remains independent.

He has said a role in a possible Bolsonaro government is still open, while a campaign aide says there have been no talks about bringing him into the administration.

Marçal and others are helping shape a proposed Ministry of Prosperity that Bolsonaro says he would create if elected, bringing together major social programs.

The Workers’ Party has asked Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court to revoke Bolsonaro’s ticket, alleging that Marçal’s social media accounts are being used improperly for campaign propaganda and false information.

The campaign denies Marçal is part of its structure, and the court case is pending.
