Sánchez urges left-wing voters to back PSOE in November election
Spain’s general election is due on 29 November, and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is campaigning for his PSOE party.
At a rally in Ponferrada, in León province, he said voters face a choice between the PSOE and the right-wing PP and Vox parties.
The PSOE is seeking to unite left-wing voters in small electoral districts, where votes for smaller parties on the left may not win seats.
León elects four members of Congress.
Sánchez also called for continued support for public health care, pensions and housing, and urged voters to turn out.
He said 400,000 people who became Spanish citizens under a law for descendants of exiles were being blocked from voting, and asked the Supreme Court to intervene.
The election will decide whether Spain continues with a progressive government or changes direction.
