West African Resources reports record quarterly gold production

West African Resources produced 127,950 ounces of gold in the September quarter at its Sanbrado and Kiaka mines in Burkina Faso.

It sold 135,245 ounces at an average price of US$4,240 per ounce.

The company said it remains on track to produce 430,000 to 490,000 ounces this year.

Macquarie said production was 11% above its expectations, mainly because more material was processed at Kiaka.

Sanbrado produced slightly less than the broker expected, but Burkina Faso has approved an underground extension there.

Work has begun, and mining from the extension is scheduled to start in early 2027; the company expects the delay to have little effect on that year's production.

Macquarie kept its outperform rating and $4 share price target, while saying production risks for 2027 had fallen.

The company said it expects to meet its annual target, provided there are no major disruptions.
